Softball

Lady Wolves softball had a busy week of games, hosting Wayne on Tuesday, North Summit on Thursday, then participating in a St. George tournament, playing against Providence Hall, Hillcrest, Timpanogos, and Delta.

              Tuesday against the Badgers, North Sevier took the 18-14 win after leading for much of the game, having 10 hits and only 4 errors; Laynee Nielsen had 4 hits, Kamryn Pierce 2, and Jacy Crane, Kendyl Brazell Addie Quarnberg and Brinzie Ekker each 1.   Runs scored were 4 by Addie Quarnberg, 3 by Sydney Bosh, 2 by Kamryn Pierce and Jacy Crane, and 1 by Drew Sedgwick, Laynee Nielsen, Sydnie Henrie, Kailey Page, McKenzie Brown, and Chloe Malmgren.  Nielsen hit 3 doubles, Pierce a double and a triple, and Brazell a double.  Pitchers for North Sevier included Crane, Pierce, and Malmgren.

              The Lady Wolves continued their winning streak Thursday, beating North Summit 20-10 in five innings with a big 15 points in the fourth.  Pierce racked up 3 hits, Sydnie Henrie 2, and Addie Quarnberg and Farnsworth each 1.  Runs tallied were Quarnberg and Paisley Roberts with 3 each, 2 from McKenzie Brown, Kailey Page, Jacy Crane, and Drew Sedgwick, and 1 from Henrie, Brazell, and Farnsworth.  Pierce hit a homer and Nielsen a triple for North Sevier.

              Providence Hall took the game Friday over North Sevier with a 13-6 win.  McKenzie Brown led the Wolves in scoring with 2 runs, with Kailey Page, Swayzee Mason, Drew Sedgwick, and Kamryn Pierce each earning 1.  Page earned 1 stolen base with Crane pitching 2 innings, and Malmgren 1 where she earned 2 strike outs.

              An 18-13 win over the Delta Rabbits for North Sevier saw 2 hits from Swayzee Mason, and 1 from Paisley Roberts, McKenzie Brown, Kailey Page, Kendyl Brazell, Laynee Nielsen, Drew Sedgwick, and Kamryn Pierce with Page, Roberts and Mason all hitting doubles, and Malmgren was given the win on the mound.

              Saturday the Lady Wolves lost to Timpanogos with hits by Paisley Roberts, Sydnie Henrie, Kamryn Pierce, and Jacy Crane – who hit a home run. The Lady Wolves also lost to Hillcrest 5-21 in two innings. Hitting for North Sevier were Crane (double) and Pierce, with runs in by Crane, Sedgwick, Sydney Bosh, Page (stolen base), and Roberts.  Pitching was Jacy Crane with 1 strikeout.

              We played some really tough teams and had some tough loses. However, we learned a lot and had a ton of positives. Our bats are coming alive, our pitchers are really starting to dial it in, and the team is fighting through the tough innings together,” said Coach Makaela Bills.

              This week the team heads to San Juan for a double header on Tuesday and hosts Parowan on Thursday.
