Wolves slide into playoff action

The North Sevier Baseball team slid into the 2A Baseball State Championship at a confident start. The Wolves played two games on Saturday, May 2nd, in Beaver against first the Monticello Buckaroos, and second, the Beavers. In their first game, the team fought seven long innings in order to eventually take the victory. During the game, McKay Foote controlled the plate, sending 10 opposing batters back to the dugout after 9 Put-Outs and 1 Assist. The heat on the mound, for both teams, was intense. North Sevier collected 8 strikeouts, 4 from Davis Malmgren, 3 from Koy Wasden, and 1 from Parker Jensen; and Monticello came in close with 6 against the Wolves. Despite the pressure, North Sevier won 7-3 over Monticello.

The game that followed didn’t go as well as the first. Stepping up to the plate against the Beavers, the Wolves crumpled under their competitors. Beaver pushed on the mound, throwing 6 strikeouts to the plate, while North Sevier only managed 1 by Koy Wasden. Likewise, the team fought to gather runs but only reached 1 by D. Malmgren. In the end, the Wolves were squashed by the Beavers 1-16, pushing the team into the consolation bracket.

This week, the team will continue to fight to stay in the State Tournament by facing the Enterprise Wolves on Tuesday, May 5th, on their home field.
