North Sevier Track and Field participated in the Desert Hills Invitational in St. George on Saturday and with many athletes medaling and most hitting personal best scores.
To start the day the girls sprint medley team placed first and the boys’ team took second. Senior Avery Smith took 12th in the 100m hurdles and Cale Torgerson 29th. In the boys 100m hurdles Senior Tate Goble placed 19th and sophomore Jacob Johnson 14th. Freshman Swayzee Mason took 14th in the 100m and Kamden Saling 38th for the boys. Freshman Trey Torgerson took 5th in the 400m and Laynee Okerlund 39th with Ethan Fielding 14th for the boys 400m and Bayden Hallows 61st.
Avery Smith placed 11th and Cale Torgerson 12th in the 300m hurdles with Rilee Mason 30th with Tate Goble 11th and Jacob Johnson 25th for the boys. North Sevier’s 4×100 team took 5th and the boys 8th. Brooklin Goble placed 12th in the 800m and Judith Lauret 30th, with Coy Shaw 12th and Ayden Crane 42nd for the boys.
Swayzee Mason placed 18th in the 200m with a 28.86 time and Ethan Fielding 14th at 24.10 and Keaton Rosquist at 60th and Dean Anderson 61st. Ciarra Anderson placed 19th overall in the seeded 1600m and Brooklin Goble 8th in the open 1600m with Judith Lauret 18th. Braxton Macart placed 30th in the boys 1600m and Ayden Crane 35th. North Sevier’s girls 4×4 team placed 5th and the boys team 4th.
In the field events, freshman Cale Torgerson placed 8th in the high jump with Trey Torgerson 13th and Avery Smith 19th. For the boys Kamden Saling placed 38th and Keaton Rosquist 50th. In Discus Alli Mason took 5th with a 27.66m throw and Brooklin Goble 13th with 25.13m. In Javelin Cauy Williams placed 8th with a 39.42 throw and Jesse Aitken 25th with 35.10m. Junior Blaine Anderson placed 4th with a 13.42m throw in the shot put and Cauy Williams 16th with 11.40m and Clayton Duckworth 26th with 10.41m.
Jacob Johnson placed 7th in the high jump with a 5’-08” jump and Keaton Rosquist 17th with 5’-04”. In the girls long jump freshman Trey Torgerson placed 8th with a 15’01” jump and in the boys discus Blaine Anderson took 9th, Cauy Williams 19th, and Clayton Duckworth 21st.
Junior Alli Mason placed 15th in the girl’s javelin with Brooklin Goble 17th and in the shot put Mason placed 5th and sophomore Sydney Bosh 24th.
Overall, the team placed 8th behind 5A-6A schools but were the top 2A school there. This week the team will split with half traveling to St. George’s
