Charlee Sorenson, Aurora, competed at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, Florida on July 28-30. As the little sister of the Miss America Organization, she competed in private interview, talent, fitness, and Evening Gown and Onstage Question. Charlee was honored to have received the Talent Preliminary Award, the Overall Talent Award, and was a top 10 finalist out of 51 girls! Her talent selection was an operatic vocal “Ah! Je Veaux Vivre” (I Want to Live) From the Opera Romeo Etta Juliette. Over the last year and a half, Charlee has been studying Opera and classical voice under the direction of Dr Isaac Hurtado- professor of vocal performance at Utah Valley University, where she plans to continue her studies during her senior year of high school and as a university student in the fall of 2022.
Charlee won $2000 worth of cash scholarships in Orlando and had previously earned $8000 in cash scholarships and thousands of dollars of in-kind contributions through her participation in the Miss America Organization.
Amy Rassmussen, executive director of the Miss Utah Outstanding Teen Organization, said , “Charlee personifies dedication, kindness, joy and talent. She is coming home as the first Teen titleholder from Utah to be in the Top 10, receive the Top Vocalist Award and a Talent Preliminary. It’s incredible to watch history be written through the gifts and hard work of our Teens. Charlee truly shined and audiences watching from across the country were impressed and cheering for her. She’s an inspiring and giving young woman in all that she does and it’s so wonderful to see that rewarded.”
Charlee is the daughter of Mike and Linda Sorenson, Aurora.
