Lady Wolves softball beat Piute 2-12 on Tuesday and Wayne 7-6 on Friday. Senior pitcher Abby Johnson held the Thunderbirds scoreless until the fifth inning when they were able to score 2 runs. Jacy Crane had a run for North Sevier and Makayla Crane had 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Kamryn Pierce homered and had 4 RBIs and Allie Cowley 1 run and an RBI. McKenzie Brown had 2 runs and an RIB, Sydnie Henrie 2 runs and McKykee Malmgren an RBI, with Breklyn Reed 1 run and 4 RBIs. Makayla Crane and Kamryn Pierce each doubled for the Wolves and Sydnie Henrie hit a triple. Makayla Crane earned 2 stolen bases. The Badgers led the Wolves 5-3 at the end of the second inning after four runs, but the Lady Wolves’ two runs in the fourth and two runs in the sixth gave North Sevier the 7-5 lead. Wayne added a final run in the seventh inning but the Wolves held onto the win 7-6. Jacy Crane hit a home run, as well as a double, Makayla Crane, Sydnie Henrie, and Abby Johnson all hit doubles, and pitcher Allie Cowley was credited with the win. “This week we have our last region game on Tuesday in Gunnison, then two non-region games with Beaver and Parowan before state,” said Coach Kalie Friscknecht. “Things are looking good for us as we prepare for state.”
