Getting Prepared

With the abundance of snow and moisture in the valleys and mountains this year comes concerns that the snow may melt faster than the streams, canals, and rivers can handle short term.  Local ecclesiastical leaders have felt the need to be proactive in preparing for this year’s spring runoff.   Sandbags and sand have been purchased and donated in preparation and volunteers from across the area dedicated their time to fill and tie bags; efforts continue and by the end of the week it is expected over 3500 will be ready in the event they’re needed.   “We have them placed on pallets so they can be easily loaded for quick distribution wherever they’re needed with in the stake,” said coordinator Newell Hales. “Working with Fire Chief Matt Murphree, the firemen will have these on hand if the time comes.”
