North Sevier’s Track and Field team participated in the Old Capitol Invitational Friday, April 30 in Millard; The boys’ team placed 11th and the girls’ 14th.
“The Old Capitol Invitational held at Millard High School was a much bigger meet than we anticipated as it brought in 26 schools ranging from 1A to 3A schools. The team right now is beginning to peak and the kids are working very hard to improve their own personal records along and the team as a whole is improving every week. 36 new personal record were broken, which is a record for myself as a coach to have that many in one meet,” said Coach Terron Barney. “I am incredibly proud of this team and look forward to watching what they do as we get ready for BYU, Region and State.”
Senior Caleb Madsen placed 22nd in the boys 100m with Ethan Fielding 32nd and for the girls Caleigh Nelson 50th and Hannah Riggs 54th. Freshman Greyson Bennett took 26th in the boys’ 200m and Kamden Saling 28th and Senior Kelby Bosh placed 9th in the 400m with Bennett in 12th. Hannah Riggs placed 14trh for the girls in the 400m and Keaton Hallows 6th in the 800m with Kelby Bosh 9th. Makiah Croft placed 34th in the 800m and Keaton Halllows 6th in the 1600m with Rilee Mason 28th.
In the 100m hurdles Avery Smith took 16th and 8th in the 300m hurdles, and Tate Goble 4th in the 100m hurdles and 9th in the 300m hurdles. Goble also placed 9th in the long jump with Greyson Bennett 11th. Cauy Williams took 11th in the high jump and Jacob Johnson 17th, with Alaina Barney 24th. Cauy Williams also took 11th in the javelin and Coy Shaw 29th with Alli Mason 13th, Alaina Barney 26th, and Brooklyn Goble 27th.
For the shot put Blaine Anderson took 6th and Cauy Williams 11th, with Alli Mason 10th, and in the discus Williams placed 23rd, Bayden Hallows 29th, Trishna Nielson 12th and Brooklyn Goble 26th.
The boys 4×100 team (Greyson Bennett, Kamden Saling, Ethan Fielding, and Caleb Madsen) placed 5th and the girls team 11th. The boys 4×400 team (Ethan Fielding, Jacob Johnson, Coy Shaw, Tate Goble) placed 6th and the girls (Avery Smith, Karla McCoy, Ciarra Anderson, and Hannah Riggs) took 4th and qualified for state with a 4L36:72 time. The boys sprint medley (Greyson Bennett, Ethan Fielding, Kelby Bosh, Caleb Madsen ) took 4th as did the girls.
