The Cross-Country team traveled to North Summit Tuesday for a pre-region run. Since they had two meets this week, the team used the first one as a team bonding as they got to know the course run. On Thursday they traveled to Milford and had great success and speed, recording many personal records, and taking home several medals and ribbons.
In the Jr High 1.25 mile run Emmitt Nelson ran a 7:49, placing first. This was Emmett’s last race of the season, and he went undefeated in all, racing against some really tough competitors. Cade Johnson placed 3rd, with Cynch Wanlass close behind.
“We are really excited to get these 8th grade boys in the high school program next year,” said Coach Char Smith.
In the JR High girls race Zoey Rhees placed third, with Kadee Bosshardt in 12th.
Keaton Hallows won the High School boys’ race, Tate Goble placed 7th, Jacob Johnson 14th, Braxton MacArt 18th, and Greyson Bennett 19th. Karla McCoy ran a great race placing 3rd overall, Ciarra Anderson 7th, Avery Smith 8th, and Brooklin Goble 12th.
“The girls’ race was really tight between our girls and Panguitch resulting in a tiebreaker for 1st place, which Panguitch ended up winning,” said Smith. “The boys took second place with 40 points to Bryce Valley’s 29. We are really excited to run Region in North Summit next week and believe both boys and girls teams will compete well enough to get full teams to state.”
