North Sevier Wolves opened their season with a huge 41-6 victory over South Sevier Friday night. Though the Rams scored the first TD mid first quarter, North Sevier’s Keaton Peterson kicked a 38-yard field goal at the beginning of the second and the Wolves controlled the game from that point on. Junior Kannin Boswell ran in a 20-yard TD during the second quarter and with just four seconds left in the half Peterson again was perfect in field goals, earning another for North Sevier. Senior Deagan Brazell scored for the Wolves on a 13-yard run at the beginning of the third, and Boswell earned his second TD of the night with a 46-yard run for North Sevier. Ending the third quarter, Senior Nathan Snyder earned the Wolves’ next TD with a five-yard run. Cauy Williams scored mid-way through the final quarter for the Wolves’ and the game’s, final touch down with an 8-yard pass from quarterback Ryker Frischknecht.
“The boys played really well! South Sevier put together a really good first drive to start the game off and take an early lead, but our team responded well and came back with 41 unanswered points. I’m proud of the way they didn’t panic after being down 6 to 0 in the first quarter! This game was truly a team effort. We played well in all three phases of the game, Offense, Defense, and Special teams. Hopefully we can carry that momentum into Richfield this week!” said Coach Wyatt Mason. “Our O and D lineman need to be recognized for their hard work in the trenches! Brogan, Blaine, Clayton, Drexton, and Jace took it to them! Our Tight Ends also helped a lot in the run game, Cuay and Deagan. Kannin and Nathan had great nights on both sides of the ball as well… Like I said, it was a true team effort and I know I’m missing a lot of players that had great games. I’m just proud of them all. We are not done yet though. We have big goals for this season and plenty more work to do, but it was fun to get a great win like this! We hope to have a big crowd at home as we take on Richfield!”
Boswell led in rushing with 12 carries for 131 yards, and Peterson had 3 carries for 24 yards. Breken Mason and Tyler Foote each completed 6 yards for North Sevier. Passing, Frischknecht completed 4/8 for 57 yards.
Cauy Williams led in receptions with 2 for 24 yards, Boswell earned 20, Brazell 13 and Snyder 8 yards.
Peterson was perfect in terms of kicking for North Sevier, earning 2 field goals and 5 PATs.
