The North Sevier baseball team finished up their regular season with a tough loss 11-1 against a really good Juab team.
“The RPI came out and we ended up with the 6 seed for the state tournament, so that sent us to Kanab to play #11 Layton Christian in the first round,” said Coach Josh Robinson. “ We beat LCA 18-2 behind the pitching of Brody Butler and solid hitting by the whole team. Some highlights include doubles by Marshall Okerlund, Hunter Hansen, Reilly Burr and Deagan Brazell.”
Deagan Brazell and Ryker Frischknecht each hit a triple, and Breken Mason hit a home run. The second game of the day saw the Wolves playing #3 Kanab.
“I was super happy with the way we played,” said Robinson. “It was probably one of our best team performances of the year, but unfortunately Kanab got a couple more timely hits then we did and beat us 3-1. Kanab took first place in the toughest 2A region so for us to lead for most of the game and hang right with them has our team feeling confident going into the last week of state this week.”
Kannin Boswell earned an RBI and Breken Mason was credited with the loss on the mound.
The team will play Monticello on Maple Mountain’s field at 11 AM on Thursday. When they win they will play on Spanish Fork Sports Park at 4:30.
“We like where we line up in the bracket and hope to make a good run at state,” said Robinson.
