A new event, sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce, complimented Redmond Town’s traditional and spectacular Pioneer Day events this year. In addition to the parade, fireworks, concert, games, Road Rally and other amazing activities, a cardboard boat regatta and beach party/concert was added Saturday afternoon and organizers were overwhelmed with emotion at the enthusiastic support of the community. “We couldn’t believe the crowd and the creativity of the boats. The Regatta was so fun, and everyone seemed to enjoy it immensely,” said Chamber President Carol Lowman. “The concert was wonderful and went on into the night. Everyone was having a great time. We loved that families extended their Pioneer Day activities to include our event. It was a total success, especially for a first-time effort.” A picture page from the weekend can be found on page five of this week’s Salina Sun.
