The Salina Lions Club hosted its first annual Service Carnival on Saturday, April 11 at the Lion’s Den, bringing together a variety of local organizations dedicated to giving back to the community. Lions Club President Carol Lowman expressed sincere appreciation to all who participated, noting that the strong turnout and spirit of service helped make the inaugural event a meaningful success.
Community partners including the American Legion, local Scouts, the Backpack Club, American Red Cross, RISE, WHO Lives, and other charitable groups hosted interactive booths where attendees could take part in hands-on service projects benefiting the local area. The collaborative atmosphere highlighted the power of community involvement and volunteerism.
In addition to supporting other organizations, the Lions Club carried out one of its signature service efforts by cleaning, sorting, and labeling donated prescription glasses for redistribution. They also provided access to equipment for basic eye screenings, helping connect individuals in need with essential vision resources.
Lowman emphasized that the event represents just the beginning, with plans already underway to expand participation and offerings in future years. Building on this year’s success, the Salina Lions look forward to growing the Service Carnival into a lasting tradition that continues to strengthen the community through service.
