Rodeo Announcer Honored

Brent Kelly

“ It isn’t work if you love what you are doing”, says Brent Kelly, Salina’s Rodeo Announcer for the past 25 years. The thrills and spills of the arena began over 49 years ago as a rodeo contestant at college, but the western lifestyle has always been a way of life for Brent. He grew up on the back of a horse as a youngster, riding, roping and enjoying the life of rodeo. Auctioneering is another one of his talents and he ran an auction barn in Spanish Fork for over 30 years.  He currently is co-owner of the Heber Valley Horse Sale each year in May, selling 100 head of broke performance horses. He loves to call the action of the athletes and see them succeed in their sport. He is a six time “Announcer of the Year” in the RMPRA,   in 2018 he was inducted into Utah’s Cowboy Hall of Fame. Brent is currently announcing the National High School Cutting for his thirtieth year.

Brent and his wife Mary celebrate 5o years of marriage this  August, along with their five children and families, who have also made rodeo a big part of their lives,  as contestants,   announcers,  auctioneers , and even rodeo clowning.  They enjoy watching their grandchildren compete in Junior High and High School Rodeo events. Tonight’s bull fighter, Rowdy, is his son in law, and his daughter helps out running the rodeo music.   Brent has a one-of-a-kind rodeo voice and a rich sense of humor as he calls the rodeo action right here in Salina, Utah.   Let’s give him a BIG THANK YOU for being with us so many years. (applause)

So folks, dust off your boots, hold onto your hat, and put your hands together and cheer for your favorite cowboys and cowgirls…….cause its rodeo time in Salina!!!
