End of Session
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As the 2026 Legislative Session comes to a close, I’m proud of the work we’ve done for Utah, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent you. This year, my focus was straightforward: make life more affordable and keep government accountable to the people it serves. Utah families are feeling the pressure of rising costs, so we worked to help you keep more of what you earn. We lowered the income tax, expanded the child tax credit, lowering the gas tax by 15%, and cut unnecessary red tape designed to put more money back in your pocket.
We also worked to keep Utah a great place to raise a family. Over the past four years, the Legislature has increased education funding by more than $2.3 billion. We’re protecting our water future by supporting efforts to save the Great Salt Lake and other water projects in the State. We’re working to lower housing costs by cutting red tape and investing in local infrastructure. And we increased transparency in the courts by helping create free access to public court records.
It has truly been an honor to serve as your representative this Session. As our work at the Capitol wraps up, I look forward to reconnecting with our communities and hearing directly from you about the issues that matter most to you. What’s Next: Getting Involved During the Interim Meetings
While the General Session is behind us, the work of shaping Utah’s future continues through the Interim meetings. Starting in May, we begin meeting monthly to study complex issues that need more time than a fast-paced 45-day Session allows. During these meetings, legislators serve on specialized committees, hearing directly from experts, stakeholders, and citizens across Utah. This is where the groundwork for the 2027 General Session begins, and it is the best time for you to get involved, share your concerns, or bring up the issues that matter most to your family before bills are even drafted. I value your perspective, and I would welcome hearing from you as we move into this in-depth research and planning phase.
Committees and Caucus Leadership
As Chair of the House Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Standing Committee, I remain committed to practical, rural-focused policy. I also serve on the House Public Utilities and Energy Committee, Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee, Utah Energy Council, Water Development Commission, Federalism Commission, Constitutional Defense Council, and the Colorado River Authority Caucus. I’m also a Co-Chair of the Rural Caucus and serve on a Rural Legislative Education Working Group focused on improving rural education delivery and facilities, including capital improvements and campus infrastructure.
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you in the Utah House of Representatives.
Sincerely,
Representative Albrecht
