Representative Albrecht July Report

Utah House of Representatives Report

June 29, 2023

Special Session

Congressman Chris Stewart announced his intention to resign his seat in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District in September. To address this vacancy and ensure Utahns remain fully represented in Washington, the Legislature convened in a Special Session, where they passed a bill to establish election processes and protocols for a special election this fall. The full text of House Bill 2001 can be found at: https://le.utah.gov/~2023S2/bills/static/HB2001.html

Municipal Primary Elections and the CD2 Special Election will be held on September 5. The General Elections will be held on November 21. Learn more and register to vote at vote.utah.gov.

June Interim Meetings

I enjoyed meeting with my colleagues this last month for Interim Committees to discuss the needs of our state. Go to https://le.utah.gov/interim/2023/pdf/00003245.pdf to read the highlights from June’s meetings. There are no Interim Meetings in July. We will meet again on August 8th and 9th at the Utah State Capitol. Follow along at le.utah.gov.

Happy Fourth of July!

I hope you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July! I enjoy the opportunity we have this time of year to celebrate the many freedoms we have as citizens of this great nation. I am proud to be an American and a Utahn. We live in a very special place here in Rural Utah.

Sandbag Disposal

Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help during the increased flood risks this past spring! Now that those risks have lessened, you may be wondering what to do with any leftover sandbags. Contact your local county offices.

(My District) House of Representatives District 70

After redistricting last year, I continue to represent Sevier County.  I now also represent Piute and Beaver Counties, and the Northwest portion of Iron County, West of I-15, including Enoch, Newcastle, Beryl Junction to the Nevada border.  These counties all supported me well last November in the General Election.  I really appreciate serving these new counties along with Sevier County, where I reside.

I’m ready to help you with issues that I can.  I’ve always been a strong champion for Rural Utah in the Legislature and try to pass legislation to help us here in Rural Utah
