POLICE OFFICER/SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER OPENING

A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a sworn law enforcement officer assigned to a school, fulfilling roles as a law enforcement officer, counselor, and educator. They work to maintain a safe and secure learning environment, deter crime, and build positive relationships with students and staff.

Specific Duties:

  • Works closely with school administrators and other staff members.
  • Investigating crimes and incidents that occur on school property.
  • Providing security and traffic control during school events.
  • Teaching classes on topics such as safety, crime prevention and drug awareness.
  • Mentoring and counseling students, particularly those facing challenges.
  • Building positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Collaborating with school administrators and other staff on safety and security issues.

Qualifications:

  • Current Utah POST Certification, POST certified eligible, or ability to obtain a Waiver or Reactivation
  • US Citizen, 21 years or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must pass a thorough background investigation which may include a financial investigation
  • Must complete 40 hours minimum of annual Law Enforcement Training to maintain POST Certification

-Must pass a pre-employment physical fitness test (POST Standard)
