The Gunnison Market Pharmacy is excited to welcome new pharmacy customers from the North Sevier Intermountain Pharmacy and pharmacist Shawn Sorensen and the staff at Gunnison Market are looking forward to the new clients.

“Associated Foods and IHC have worked together to transfer records from the North Sevier location to our pharmacy here in Gunnison Market,” said Pharmacist Shawn Sorensen. “My staff and I are looking forward to servicing our North Sevier patients and ask for their understanding during this transition stage – it might get a little crazy!”

Sorensen has had over 15 years in the pharmacy industry and is a home-grown Gunnison boy. He completed undergraduate work at Snow College and Utah State and completed his pharmacy degree at Idaho State.  He has been working at the Gunnison Pharmacy for the past ten years, and in his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.

Gunnison Market’s manager Jeremy Vincent is also thrilled with the new opportunities presented to the store and said exciting changes will be taking place within the pharmacy, including an expansion.

“We are currently expanding and will soon have a drive-up window and an additional technician bay to better serve our customers,” said Vincent. “We have a full selection of medications, Spanish speaking techs and quick turnaround time. Shawn stocks 1 ½ times the amount of inventory most other pharmacies stock to service patients properly.”

The Gunnison Market pharmacy can set up auto refills and will also mail out medications free of charge. They offer medication reviews, can bubble pack monthly or weekly medications for help with remembering- including sorting them according to date and time, and can set up text message medication pick up reminders.  If your insurance was accepted by IHC and they typically stocked your medication, it’s more than likely the Gunnison Market Pharmacy too.

Unique to the pharmacy is their loyalty card which offers a $10 market gift card for every 10 prescriptions filled in store.  They also offer flu/covid shots and often can do well child immunizations too.

“Gunnison has quite the medical community and we are proud to be a part of that,” said Sorensen. “The doctors can send prescriptions here and customers can pick them up on their way home! We usually have a 3–5-minute turnaround time … it will likely be crazy for the next couple months as we get adjusted, but I’m thankful we are able to help IHC during this transition.  We have patients from Green River and Nephi all the way to Mt. Pleasant and Wayne County, so we’ve got experience serving our neighbors from all over and welcome those from North Sevier.”

All records were electronically transferred from IHC’s North Sevier Pharmacy to Gunnison Market’s so it should be a seamless transition. However, if medications were on auto-refill, customers are encouraged to call on the first fill to make sure they’re ready and ensure things are set up properly.
