Fire crews from across Sevier and Sanpete counties responded Saturday, March 21, to a wildfire burning along the Sevier River north of Redmond. The fire, estimated at approximately 100 acres, began from an agricultural ditch burn earlier in the day. The burn had been believed to be fully extinguished, but increasing winds later reignited remaining hot spots, spreading flames through tamarisk and sagebrush along the river corridor.
