Municipal Elections

Monday, June 7 was the final day for declarations of candidacy.

In Aurora, Mayor Daven Quarnberg has filed for re-election, as have two current city council members Jim Harrison and Kelly Mason.  There will be no need for an election due to lack of candidates, so congratulations to these gentlemen and thank you for your willingness to serve.

In Salina, current Mayor Jed Maxwell has filed for re-election and Pat Robins has declared intentions to run against him.  Two council seats are open and both Jon Maxwell and Newell Hales have opted to run again.  Opposing them are newly declared candidates Kevin Mickelsen and Aaron Richards.

In Redmond, Mayor Myron Mickelsen’s term was up and he opted not to run; Kelly Johnson is the only candidate who filed for a mayoral term. A two-year term held by Char Smith was up for election as were two seats currently held by Gary Carlisle and Audrey Brown.  Filing for the one two-year seat is Lyman Anderson.  Filing for the two four-year seats are Char Smith, Gary Carlisle, and Kami Christensen.  An election will be held in November for Redmond.
