Mary Shaw
1934 – 2021
Salina, Utah – Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mary Louise Shepherd Shaw, age 87, of Salina, passed away October 29, 2021 in Gunnison. She was born January 31, 1934 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Theodore R. and Myrtle Cleora Rogers Shepherd. She grew up in Salina and attended North Sevier High School with the Class of 1952. She married Warren Gail Shaw December 7, 1950 in Salina. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 16, 1964. Gail passed away July 19, 2010.
Mary and Gail moved to Salt Lake City in 1956 where they raised their family and Gail worked. After retirement they moved back to Salina 15 years ago.
Mary is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as Young Women President, Primary President and teacher, counselor in the Relief Society and served in the Stake Young Women’s Program.
Mary enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidering, canning and bottling fruits and vegetables. She always grew a gorgeous garden and made sure she shared the benefits of it with all of her family.
Mary loved to be with her family. She was a very strong person and was always providing service to others. She enjoyed caring for people and loved giving them comfort and happiness. In earlier years the family camped a lot. Mary would always prepare food for the men for the deer hunt and make sure they were properly cared for.
Mary is survived by her children: Sherri and Gary Phillips of Salt Lake City; Jim and Ann Shaw of Aurora; Carolyn and Ray Hardy of Washington City, Utah; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gail; parents: Theodore R Shepherd, Myrtle C. “Myrt” Martin and Allen J. Martin; her son, Ricky Gail Shaw and a brother, William Thomas Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 12 Noon in the Salina Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
