Brett R. Shaw

1959 – 2021

Salina, Utah – On October 31, 2021 our loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Brett R Shaw, 62, returned into the loving arms of our father in heaven and his own dad.

He was born January 23, 1959 in Salina Utah to Reed and Joan Nielson Shaw.  He married M’Shelle Shields on October 9th, 1976. Their marriage was later solemnized December 16, 1978 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Brett was a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather.  His heart for others in his community was always evident by his actions.  There was never a time in his children or grandchildren’s lives that he was not present in their many activities.  He adored his beautiful bride M’Shelle.  During the fall you could count on Brett and M’Shelle dressed in their BYU Blues cheering on their beloved Cougars.

Brett loved being on the mountain property camping or hunting with his family almost every weekend.  As his children grew and moved away he continued to look for every opportunity to get his family together in the mountains.  He enjoyed going for long rides on the 4-wheeler or side by side enjoying the beauty that the mountains had to offer.

Brett was a master of everything.  If you needed something done, you could always count on him to help you with the project.  He was known for his strong work ethics and being the gentlest of giants.  From laying carpet to building things with his hands, he could do it all!  He also found a passion in smoking meat.  He became so good at it, he was often requested to handle the food for functions around the community.  Everyone knew they were in for a treat when Brett was in charge.

Brett exuded energy of pure love and acceptance from the moment you met him. Being a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He worked endlessly to carry himself in a manner that would make his father in heaven proud. He radiated love, kindness, and unwavering integrity.

Brett is survived by his wife M’Shelle Shaw of Salina, his four children Devanae (Adam) Robinson of Richfield, Aaron (Suzanne) Shaw of Eden, Chansey (Ryan) Eames of Eagle Mountain, Selanie (Jed) Christensen of Nephi; grandchildren: Drayton, Drexton,Traesin, Payton, Addison, Walker, Kobree, Knoxx, Phynix, Jaylee, Kinley, Rance, and Lyndie;  his mother: Joan Call of Kaysville; siblings: Jewleyn (Ed) Jenson, Valerie Shaw, Mark (Pam) Shaw, Janet (Shane) Huntsman, Lisa (Jeff) McArthur; and his mother-in-law: Evelyn R. Shields of Sandy.
