Lions International Peace Poster Contest: A Path to Global Recognition

For the past 36 years, Lions International has hosted an annual Peace Poster Contest, encouraging young people to express their visions of peace through art. Each year, local Lions clubs organize the contest, with the winning entry at the club level advancing to the district competition. In Utah, there are two districts: North 28U and South 28T. The winners from each district move on to the state competition, where one artist from each district will represent Utah. This year, Dennaizha Bradley, a 13-year-old 8th grade student at North Sevier Middle School, emerged as the winner of the Southern Utah district, earning the opportunity to compete at the state level. As part of her district victory, she was awarded a certificate of congratulations, a personal letter from the Peace Poster Chair for the district, PCC Kevin Christensen, and a $50 prize.

Dennaizha’s artwork will now compete at the state level, where Utah will select its representative to advance to the international stage. At the international level, over 3,000 entries from around the world will be narrowed down to the top 25 finalists. The 24 runners-up will receive a $500 award, while the grand prize winner will be awarded a trip to the International Lions Convention, along with a $5,000 prize, and an opportunity to attend the event with their parents.

Lions International invests significant resources in both the Peace Poster and Essay Contests, aiming to inspire young people to become ambassadors of peace. The contests foster creativity and a sense of global community, promoting peace through the talents of youth.

Congratulations to Dennaizha for her victory in both the Salina Lions Club and Southern Utah district contests. We look forward to her continued success at the state competition.
