Salina City is currently accepting applications for the following position:

Code/Zoning Enforcement Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Purpose:

Performs a variety of duties as needed to assure compliance with various city ordinances and state laws.

Supervision:

Works under the general supervision of the Zoning Administrator.

Essential Functions:

Educates and familiarizes property owners regarding the provisions of the Salina City Property Maintenance Ordinance, Zoning Ordinances, and Salina Municipal Codes.

Enforces the provisions of the Salina City Property Maintenance Ordinance, (Municipal Code Chapter 17.105.1- 4, and Nuisance Ordinance Chapter 8.04 as amended). Contacts property owners verbally and/or by letter to notify and explain any violations of the ordinance that may occur on their property. Follows the notification process as detailed in Chapter 17.105.2 of the Municipal Code.

Enforces various provisions of the Salina City Zoning Ordinance and Municipal Codes as required.  Contacts property owners verbally and/or by letter to notify and explain any violations of the ordinances or codes that may occur on their property.  Typical violations may include but are not limited to the following: property nuisances, abandoned vehicles, vehicles parked for prolonged periods of time along street right of way, trash dumpsters on street right of way, signs on street right of way, debris abandoned on street right of way, and sign ordinance violations.

Maintains detailed records of all contacts with property owners, sitelocations, Notice-of-Violations, photographs, andrecordings of verbal contacts.

Performs additional related duties as required.

Position is open until filled. Applications can be picked up at the Salina City Offices during normal business hours.
