The area Elk’s Hoop Shoot was held at North Sevier Middle School on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Winners from surrounding schools competed in the foul shot competition, looking to advance to the next level. The competition consists of the most made free throws out of 25.
Local winners are: (left to right) girls 8/9 division: Chanci Lisonbee, daughter of Dalton and Kris Lisonbee of Elsinore; girls 10/11 division: Kylee Dalton, daughter of Scott and Krista Dalton of Circleville; girls 12/13 division: Sophia Spencer, daughter of Terry and Arline Spencer of Central Valley.
Boys 12/13 division: Stratton Hallows, son of Jared and Dani Hallows of Salina; boys 10/11 division: Gavin Bagley, son of Brodie and Kayla
Bagley of Salina; boys 8/9 division: Nixxon Owens, son of Austin Owens and Makelle Nelson of Loa.
These shooters will compete in Provo on Saturday, November 23rd.
Top male and female shooters:
Stratton Hallows received the Most Outstanding Male shooter award, as he sank an impressive 20/25 free throws. Stratton is a veteran to the Elk’s Hoop Shoot as he is a two time state champion. Strat also competed in the National Hoop Shoot competition in 2023. .
Sophia Spencer was the recipient of the Most Outstanding Female shooter award. This was Sophia’s first time competing in the competition, but was able to drain 18/25 shots. She looks promising to go far in the contest.
