CHIP SEAL

TRAVEL ADVISORY:  Chip Seals in Sevier County.

UDOT Chip Seal Work Scheduled for Northeast Richfield.

Sevier County, Utah (June 4, 2021) –  The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will be adding a chip seal to three locations in Sevier County in the upcoming week.  Commuters are advised to be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes or seek alternate travel routes.

Monday, June 7th road work will begin on U.S. Highway 50 just west of the Aurora turnoff extending westward for approximately 3 miles.

Tuesday, June 8th a chip seal crew will begin work on State Route 118 between the Venice and Sigurd turnoffs.

Wednesday, June 9th work on State Route 118 will extend from the Richfield City Park along 300 North in Richfield eastward around the Justice Complex and then northward to 620 North.

Motorists should anticipate one-way traffic with flagging operations and delayed travel times.  The speed limit will also be reduced to allow for proper curing of the chip seal and to avoid damage to vehicles.  While the crew will sweep the area after applying the chip seal, motorists are still encouraged to abide by the lower speed limits after crews leave until the speed signs are removed.  The chip seal crew will return at a later date to apply a finishing coat to the areas.

Chip seals are among the most cost effective solutions for preserving the durability and life cycle of roads in Utah’s climates when applied regularly.
