Chamber Lives ON

At their regularly scheduled general meeting held Thursday, December 7, members of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce unanimously voted in Angie Viers as the President, Lisa Torgerson as President-Elect, and Brandy Marsh, Secretary.

“At November’s meeting, where we typically receive nominations for new officers, but there were no nominations, so without leadership, the future of the Chamber has been up in the air,” said current President Carol Lowman. “Gratefully, under Angie’s leadership the Chamber will flourish, and things will get better and better in the future for the organization.”

Also at the meeting chamber members made financial donations and it was agreed the funds will be donated to the Kind Like Kamree Foundation, which is currently working towards donating coats and winter wear for local children in need in this area.

Christine Hanks, Snow College’s Small Business Development Center at Snow College, won the raffle donated by Ross McClintock, Colliers, and Brandy Marsh won the prize basket donated by very generous local businesses.

At the meeting it was suggested that the term of President, and other elected officials, be for two years rather than one, so the learning curve is more practical, and the discussion will be held on the matter at following meetings.  The new officers will be announced at the January meeting and an installation banquet held in February.  All are invited to attend and participate.
