The FCCLA club members at NSHS have been having many wonderful adventures this past year. Advisor Coylene Brinkerhoff said they’ve hosted multiple activities and have had a very good turnout for them.
“This past year we have tried something new by doing spotlights at our monthly breakfasts,” she said. “We choose a member and ask them some questions, then share their answers and bring their favorite treat or drink. The next month they get to choose who to spotlight.”
This past autumn the club members had a regional activity at Fishlake, where the North Sevier members got to know the members of the Wayne High School FCCLA group and met some new friends. They attended fall leadership in September where they became reacquainted with some of the friends they had met at the regional activity. There was a scary movie night for October complete with pizza and a good scream, and their final activity of the year was a Christmas party. Delicious tacos from Playa Azul were a highlight, as was a fun game of
white elephant. Most recently, several members presented their STAR Projects at Region FCCLA in Cedar City.
“It is very exciting to see all the hard work they have put into these activities,” said Brinkerhoff. “Lexi Ellett and Kaydence Kiesel took silver with their National Programs in Action Service Project and MaCayla Wahlquist took silver with her Fashion Construction project. It will be exciting to see how they do at the state conference at the end of March.”
FCCLA just hosted the Most Preferred Man Assembly and what a success it was! Fine young men, fantastic talents, and beautiful escorts!! Caden Johnson was crowned most preferred, and he said, “I’m most preferred, but still single! Jake Shelley was named Almost Preferred and Braxton MacArt Above Average in the playful competition.
