Alexa Christensen
Richfield, Utah
Alexa Dawn Black Christensen was born May 10, 1945 in Monroe, Utah to Verl and Bernice Hickman Black. She died May 26, 2021 in Richfield at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a long valiant battle with cancer.
In her early years she could most likely be found on the farm or on a horse. Of which she had many favorites. She spent many years in the Monroe Riding club where she rode with and competed against her mother and many of her friends. She also loved to go visit her grandpa and grandma Hickman in Wayne county. She loved to work on the farm with Grandpa Dez. She attended South Sevier High School and then Southern Utah University.
Alexa married Bartley L Christensen on September 8, 1977. The marriage was solemnized on May 26, 1979 in the Manti Utah Temple. Several years later they welcomed their only child Lesley. Lesley was the light of her life along with her granddaughters, Brynley and Kallie.
In the early 90’s, she and Bartley started a business in Salina, called “Lesley’s.” She spent many years there making her “cowboy and cowgirl silhouettes.” She loved her customers and all of her tanning clients. They sold the business and retired so they could spend more time with their granddaughters. She spent her last years playing with and following her granddaughters around to their various events. They were the highlight of her life and she loved them with everything she had.
Alexa and Bartley moved to Richfield in 2018, where they met and made many new friends. She enjoyed going to the “Tuesday Night Dance” at the senior citizen center. In her last few months, Bartley was with her for every moment and he cared for her relentlessly. She was loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice and Sevier Valley Hospital Staff. The love and support they provided during this trying time was unmatched.
She is survived by her husband Bartley; daughter, Lesley; granddaughters: Brynley and Kallie Christensen; stepdaughter, Julie Christensen; and stepson, Jarod Christensen.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Verl and Bernice Black; her brother, Gearld Black; stepson, Layne Christensen; and sister-in-law, Betty Jolly.
Cremation services to take place at the Magleby Mortuary Crematory. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
