The Salina Swimming Pool welcomed a sea of excited young visitors Tuesday, July 28, as nearly 100 girls attended the pool’s second annual Mermaid Party. Pool manager Bree Nielsen said the event continues to grow in popularity, with the pool’s lifeguards transforming into beautiful mermaids hosting the party. Participants enjoyed swimming alongside the mermaids, playing games, collecting seashells, and receiving treasures such as mermaid bracelets and temporary tattoos. “The mermaids had just as much fun as the little girls who came,” Nielsen said. “It’s definitely a tradition we want to continue.” For many of the girls, the day was one to remember. Eden Bagley said her favorite part was swimming with the beautiful mermaids and collecting seashells. Rawlee Mecham enjoyed receiving glittery tattoos, while Taiya Brian said she loved how colorful and exciting the party was and is already looking forward to next year’s event. With smiling faces, sparkling mermaids, and plenty of under-the-sea fun, the annual Mermaid Party once again proved to be one of the highlights of the summer swimming season.
