Terrel Nelson
Redmond, Utah

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Terrel Preston Nelson, 89, returned to his Father in Heaven on August 2, 2023. He passed away at Gunnison Valley Hospital with his family by his side.
Terrel was born April 29, 1934 in his family home in Redmond to Hilton and Cleo Anderson Nelson, where he grew up and established his roots.  He attended North Sever High School and became an entrepreneur. He enjoyed farming with his dad and brothers. He married Rhea Caldwell on September 18, 1953 in Centerfield. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. Through the years, he purchased two gas stations, cattle, several farms in Redmond, a coal business in Salina, and also  built a trucking company. He did this with his wife and two sons by his side.
Terrel served as president of the Rocky Ford Canal Company and was Brown’s Hole president for several years. He kept busy serving the community on city council and helped establish little league baseball in Redmond. He had a love for all sports, especially the New York Yankees and Utah Jazz, and loved sharing that with his grandchildren. He coached the MM Basketball team of Redmond and loved being with the youth of Redmond.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints and served in various positions.  He loved being with family whether they were working, farming, herding cattle or just spending time together. Terrel and Rhea enjoyed traveling together with lifelong friends. He was frequently seen driving his farm truck around town with one arm out the window. Recently, he was named Sevier County Cowboy of the year and was honored at Ogden Pioneer Days on July 22, 2023.
Terrel is survived by his loving wife Rhea; sons: Ken (Leslee) and Kirby (Leslie), both of Redmond; siblings: Garn (Ida), Bountiful; Grace, South Jordan; Iris (Don) Hales, Redmond; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law: Wayne (Phyllis), Chad, Reese, Ruel, Stanton (Marilyn), Cliff (Karen); grandson, Mace Nelson.
