Steve Roberts

Steve Roberts
Redmond, Utah

Steve McKay Roberts passed away June 30, 2021 in Redmond.  He was born to Merle Hampton and McKay Roberts August 30, 1949 in Salina, Utah. Some claim he was birthed on a horse, others claim he rode a horse into this world. He married Lana on February 7, 1975. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple in 1982 so they could be together forever.

If you asked Steve how many grandkids he had, he couldn’t tell you because half of the county claimed him as grandpa. He taught many young and old all about horses and riding. Sometimes they would get a chewing out if they didn’t follow directions, but it was always done from the heart.

Steve loved his Salina Riding Club and held many positions in it. He was honored for it in 2017 as The Grand Marshal.

There are so many stories that people have of cowboying with Steve that it would take an entire newspaper to write them all down. Steve’s favorite horse and riding partner, Dollar, passed just a couple of weeks prior to Steve. Steve and Dollar can now ride together forever kicking up dust.

Steve’s children are Bruce, Amber, Susie, Kirk (preceded in death), Sam, Travis, Willie, and Clint.
