Saundra Verna Andreason Coates, 80, passed away on the afternoon of November 26, 2022 in Centerfield, Utah. Saundra will be remembered as a kind and caring friend, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born March 9, 1942 in Salina, Utah to Ray and Verna Larson Andreason. As a young girl, she loved animals, caring for her younger siblings, and taking flights in her father’s small airplane.
Saundra met Clyde Coates while driving with her sister in Ephraim, Utah – to whom she then married on June 26, 1959 in Salina and sealed in the Manti Temple on June 9, 1962.  He preceded her in death on September 7, 2017. Together, they had five children. She was a grandmother to 20 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Saundra had a talent for sewing. She will be remembered as a talented seamstress: sewing clothing, making quilts, and altering for family, neighbors, and friends. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Saundra served approximately 40 years as a teacher to the 3-year-old Sunbeam class.
Saundra is survived by her children: Gaylene (Lance) Dobish, Clyde Jr. (Lori), Lyle (Sherrie), Coalette (KC) Bedke, and Evan (Stephanie).
She is also preceded in death by her father and her mother; sisters: Kathleen and Donna; grandson, Connor Coates; great-grandchildren Caden and Carston Coates.
The family offers their sincere thanks to Wade Anderson, PA-C, and the late Dwight Inouye, MD.   Also, a special thank you to the care staff at The Mission at Community Rehabilitation in Centerfield, Utah, where she spent her last seven years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 12:00 Noon Gunnison 5th Ward Chapel in Centerfield, where friends may call from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery.
