Ruth Garrick

 Ruth Garrick; 1927 – 2023; Salina, Utah – Ruth Davis Garrick, age 96, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 4, 2023, at her home in Salina. She was born January 25, 1927, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Joseph Egbert and Alberta Cram Davis.  She grew up in Salt Lake City on a small farm on Redwood Road, where they also ran a small grocery store. She adored her older brothers and would follow them everywhere they went.

She was a graduate of West High School in 1944. She met Clarence Proctor “Red” Garrick through a mutual friend, and they were married August 11, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family in Salt Lake and retired to Salina in 1986. Red passed away January 23, 2016.

Ruth had a beautiful talent for music. She was a pianist, organist, accompanist and even wrote her own music and lyrics.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she held several callings related to her musical talents. She served as church organist, temple organist, primary pianist and played for many funerals. She also spent many years serving with her husband in the Jordan River, Manti and Salt Lake Temples.

Ruth worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Winder Dairy and as secretary for their family business, Red Garrick Glass. She was a wonderful baker and canner, earning several awards at the State Fair.

She will be remembered as exceptionally caring, a loving mother, compassionate friend, maker of amazing food (especially her rolls and Christmas caramels) and she had an unparalleled work ethic.

Ruth is survived by her sons: Cliff and LaNett Garrick of Salina, Calvin Garrick of Salina; grandchildren: Brandi and Jon Rasmussen, Ammber and Nate Mathews, Colby and Letisha Garrick, Calli Brown, Arrin Garrick, Finese Garrick, Chris and Emily Garrick; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Beth Haarbrink of West Valley City.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Joe and Ted; two sisters, Vivian and Virginia; sons: Larry, Clayton and Clark; and a grandson, Jarred Brown.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 12 Noon in the Salina Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 87 South 100 East in Salina.  Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services.
