Ross Bumgardner

Ross Bumgardner
Richfield, Utah

Our sweet husband and father, Ross Leon Bumgardner, 80, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022 in his home. Ross was born October 17, 1941, to parents Joseph William Bumgardner and Bonnie Gayle Bumgardner in Salina Ut. He is survived by his wife Trisha Bumgardner; his siblings: Rosland Anderson and Rodney (Barbara) Bumgardner; children: Kal (Julie) Bumgardner, Amber (Joseph) Shelby, Jennifer Bumgardner, Jason (Carolyn) Baumgartner, Kade (Brooke) Bumgardner, and Jared (Jill) Bumgardner; 20 grandchildren and 13great-grandchildren.
Ross has finished his mission upon this earth while masterfully blending his personal experience with the doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved his dear wife and all of his children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dad loved us unconditionally which built our characters was the means by which misunderstandings were resolved. Our home was filled with music as he prepared us for singing engagements throughout Richfield and the surrounding areas. We were able to sing as a family doing many programs, especially during Christmas time. Dad loved to serve and did so through his music. Dad also loved hunting and fishing and took all of us to the mountains and taught us these skills while creating wonderful memories.
Dad was born and raised in Salina, Ut. He graduated from North Sevier High School and then continued his education at Snow College. He was involved in the arts and student government. While in high school and college he participated in and took lead roles in multiple musicals. He married Patricia Hosey on January 2, 1962. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. They moved to Richfield and Ross took a job with the Utah State Department of Transportation. He later worked for the Six County Association of Governments as the Director of Aging until his retirement. He served on the Utah State Board of aging and the State Winterization Board.
In his younger years, Dad raised sheep, pigeons, and chickens. He was involved in the 4-H programs. He had twin Suffolk sheep named Peggy and Chan. He won Grand Champion with both at the Sevier County Fair. As a young boy growing up in Salina he loved the outdoors and rode bareback on horses with his friend Johnny almost every day in Sevier valley. As a young man, his honorable parents instilled in him a love of the gospel, honor, charity, and generosity.
Dad was known throughout our community for his beautiful yard and garden. He was meticulous about all things pertaining to gardening. He was a good listener, a voracious reader, and a lover of all nature TV channels. His dream was to travel to Africa and we hope he skimmed over there on his way to heaven.
His love of the gospel and his Savior were remarkable.  He read his scriptures every day with his wife Patricia. Those who knew him were better off because he made them better by his association.
We will all miss his laugh, his beautiful brown eyes, and his smile of love. May you rest in peace and prepare a way for us all to be with you again.
