Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, partner, sister, and friend, Rose Marie Lambertsen Walker, known to most as Marie, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026.
Marie was born on January 25, 1948, in Salina, Utah, to Ardell and Shirley Lambertsen. As the oldest of eight children, she grew up surrounded by family and cherished the close relationships she shared with her siblings throughout her life. She attended North Sevier High School and graduated in 1966.
In 1979, Marie married Terry Harvey Lee Walker. They lived in several communities throughout Utah, where they raised their first four children before moving to Colorado and welcoming their fifth child. Marie devoted herself to her family as a homemaker and found great joy in volunteering at her children’s schools. No matter where they were living, the family always looked forward to returning to Utah for Lambertsen and Humphrey family reunions—something Marie always looked forward to.
Following Terry’s passing on June 18, 1987, Marie returned to Salina with her children for a short time before spending the following years living between Utah and Las Vegas, remaining close to family.
In 2005, Marie met the love of her later years, Don. Together, they spent their lives in Monroe, Utah, and Black Lick, Pennsylvania, sharing more than 20 years of companionship and love.
Marie especially enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching deer graze nearby in the mornings, hummingbirds feeding outside her window, and spending time with their two dogs. Just one week before her passing, Marie traveled to Las Vegas to spend time with family who had gathered from near and far. During that visit, she was able to see all of her children, most of her grandchildren and siblings, and to meet her newest great-grandchildren. After returning home, she commented that it had been the best week of her life—a cherished blessing and source of comfort for those she left behind.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Ardell and Shirley Lambertsen; her sister, Karen; her brothers, Boyd and Jack; and her husband, Terry Walker.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Appleyard (Jeffrey), Doug Walker, Brent Walker, Jill Bretz (David), and Teri Thompson (Brock); her brothers, Brad Lambertsen (Toni) and Troy Lambertsen (Diana); sisters, Ginger Ratliff (Bill) and Doris Reynolds; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren, with 2 more expected in the coming months. She also leaves behind her devoted partner, Don, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Marie’s kindness and love of family will be remembered always by those whose lives she touched.
