North Sevier Fights Through the Pressure

During the week previous to the last, the North Sevier Volleyball girls matched up with a number of teams. On Tuesday, August 26th, they played an away game versus Panguitch, but just came up short of victory. They played all five rounds, going 2-3. The Wolves won the second and third sets just by a hair.

On Thursday, August 28th, the Wolves played against the Badgers at Wayne High. Unlike Tuesday, North Sevier ended victoriously, taking the game in four sets. They won the first set by almost ten points! Then they let the Badgers slip through their fingers as Wayne took the second set. But the Wolves wouldn’t have it, so they pushed through and took the third and fourth sets, taking the fourth set by almost double in points.

Over the weekend on Saturday, North Sevier carried victory from nearly every match to the next. In their first matchup against the Beavers, they lost the first set, but came back defensive and won the second and  third sets and took the game. Because it was a tournament, the games were played in the best of three sets instead of five. In their second matchup against the Buffalos(Valley), the Wolves won the first and third sets, only allowing the opposing team to win one set. North Sevier continued their reign of victory in their third set against the Parowan Rams. But this time, it only took two sets to claim the win. Both sets were extremely close, with scores of 25-23 in the first and 26-24 in the second. The Wolves were shot down from their victory when they faced the Eagles(Millard). This match was considered a “neutral tournament match,” so they played all three sets. The Eagles won all three matches by a landslide in each set.

Last week on Tuesday, September 2nd, the North Sevier Wolves faced the South Sevier Rams. The first set was intensely competitive as the score ended in 29-27 with the Wolves taking the set. As the match continued, the Wolves lost momentum as the Rams slowly took the next three sets.

On Thursday, September 4th, the Wolves matched up with the Hawks(North Sanpete). Despite the efforts of the Wolves, the Hawks took each set by quite a bit. The first set resulted in 12-25, the second in 08-25, and in the third, the wolves began to chase, but it wasn’t quite enough as the score ended in 17-25. This week the North Sevier Volleyball girls will play in North Summit  on Tuesday, September 9th, and they will also play in Gunnison on Thursday, September 11th.
