Marilyn Schaugaard

1937 – 2024

St. George, Utah – Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marilyn Jean Christensen Schaugaard, age 86, passed away June 7, 2024, at her home in St. George with her husband and two children by her side telling her “it’s ok to go home now mom”.

Mom was born August 21, 1937, in Salina, Utah to LaVon A. and Mae Mickelsen Christensen. She graduated from North Sevier High School, class of 1955. She married DeLoy C. Schaugaard in the Manti Temple, January 6, 1956, and soon started a family. Rick came first and he has always held a special place in her heart. Two years later Lorri was born, and the family was complete with one of each. They had 68 wonderful years together, made so many friends, and seen so many places that dad’s work and their love for adventure would take them.

Mom enjoyed life and accomplished so many things, some of which were learning how to fly airplanes and being a member of the civil air patrol, which she loved. She gained her beauticians license and learned shorthand. She loved working in the yard growing a garden and beautiful flowers. Later, mom got involved in rock art and was part of a group that would go out and hike to find Indian rock art all over the state, she would take pictures and sketch the different panels, she also would help out at the Fremont Indian Museum, all things rock art became one of her many passions.

Mom held many callings in the church and was very dedicated to the gospel, she had a love for her Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ and also her family, they meant everything to her and was never happier than when she was with them and involved in all that they were doing. She loved going camping, boating and rides with the family in the side by side and would never complain, even more recently when we suggested to go in a vehicle for the “birthday ride” she said no, she wanted to keep tradition and ride in Rick’s 4 placer as she would call it.

She is survived by her husband DeLoy Schaugaard of St. Geroge; her two children, Rick Schaugaard of Aurora Utah, and Lorri Robins of Salina Utah; grandchildren: Lennette Vigil, Brett Schaugaard, Brandi Wilson, Logan Robins and Taylor Robins. 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her brother Bart (Sue Ann) Christensen of Richfield Utah, a brother in-law Dee Wayne Jolley of Salina Utah, a sister in-law RaeLynn Lee of Koosharem Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVon and Mae Christensen, her sister Bette Jolley, a sister in-law Alexa Christensen, a brother in-law Duane Lee.

A family gathering will be held in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Richfield Utah, Thursday June 13, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. followed by interment at the Koosharem Cemetery at 1:00 P.M.
