Kory obit color 3

Kory Paul Schade

Kory Paul Schade, age 67, passed away on April 14, 2026. Kory was born in Price, Utah, on August 3, 1958, to Raquel Jenkins and Lorenzo “Rocky” Roberts. Kory was later adopted by James (Jim) Schade after Raquel remarried when Kory was two. Kory always considered Jim as his dad, and the family made their home in Salina, Utah. Kory came into this world with a sharp mind and a sharper sense of humor—and he never really let up on either. He carried that quick wit (and just enough “smart ass” to keep things interesting) through every chapter of his life.

Kory worked as an industrial painter and coal miner, jobs that required grit, skill, and a strong work ethic—qualities he had in abundance. He was intelligent, industrious, and the kind of man who didn’t shy away from a tough days work… or a good time once the work was done.

Over the years, Kory lived life with a little edge. He gave bull riding a try (because why not), drove a Firebird Formula like it was meant to be driven, and preferred his music turned up loud. He loved to travel and see new places, but he was just as content with a good book in hand or a chessboard in front of him, quietly plotting his next move—both in the game and, sometimes, in life. When he wasn’t working, Kory could often be found fishing or in the mountains, where he was an accomplished bow hunter. He had a positive outlook, a kind heart, and a way of making people laugh when they least expected it. If there was a gathering, Kory was likely there—or on his way as he was notoriously late—with a story, a grin, and maybe just enough mischief to make things memorable.

Kory is survived by his daughters, Shaffryn (Christy) and Schyanna; his son, Haven (Jacia); and his grandson, LeRoy. Half-siblings, Shelia Roberts Ivie and Royal Roberts. He is also survived by two ex-wives who remained his friends throughout the years, Shawnee Barnes and Tina Williams—a testament to the kind of man he was. Preceded in death by his parents, Raquel and Jim Schade, and Lorenzo Roberts.

He will be remembered for his wit, his warmth, and his ability to find both humor and meaning in life—sometimes in the very same moment.

In true Kory fashion, we imagine he’d say: party on, turn the music up, keep smiling, and live life to the fullest.

Services will be held at Desert Edge Christian Church, 500 So. Main – Huntington, Utah – May 2, 2026 – 1:00. Luncheon to follow – nice casual dress okay.
