Jackie Lynn Nielsen Terrell
1947 – 2022
Jackie Terrell, age 75, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend peacefully transitioned to heaven on November 23, 2022, in Niceville, Florida, from complications of COPD.
Jackie was born to Beryl and Phil Nielsen on February 9, 1947, in Salina, Utah. She graduated from North Sevier High School and married Lynn Squires in 1965. Together they raised their only child, Kim, in West Valley City, Utah, until divorcing in 1978. She married Michael Terrell in 1979 and gained two bonus daughters, Kristi and Mandy, and a bonus son, Wade. Following her husband Mike’s death in 2014, Jackie moved to Florida to be near her daughter Kim.
Jackie worked as a secretary and office manager for many years. Her attention to detail and ability to “run the show” was impressive but spending time with her family was her real passion. Jackie loved playing cards, going camping, decorating for the holidays, baking & candy-making, collecting “treasures”, soaking in the sun, and traveling—especially winters spent in Arizona. She had a beautiful gift for writing and blessed many loved ones with her poems.
Jackie was thoughtful, fun-loving, and sentimental. Her warm and welcoming nature made everyone feel at home in her presence. She was the life of the party and a kid at heart who made every occasion special. She was an incredible mom and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren…always the silly and playful Grandma! She loved—and was loved—deeply and will be forever missed.
Jackie is survived by her daughter: Kim Squires (Cliff) Cohen of Destin, Florida, and grandchildren Tyler and Sophie; stepdaughter: Kristi Terrell (Anthony) Morrison of Salt Lake City, and grandchildren Aubrey, Chance, Kylee, Mya & Julian; stepdaughter: Mandy Terrell (Josh) Wilder of Riverton, and grandchildren Keyvan, Matisse & Bentley; 5 great-grandchildren; brother: Dennis (Shauna) Nielsen of Lost Creek; along with her cherished nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband: Michael Terrell; sister and best friend: Shanna Winkel; stepfather: Paul Ball; and stepson: Wade Terrell.
Jackie joyfully accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior prior to her death. Her final wishes were to be cremated with her remains scattered in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico in Destin, Florida. Her family will gather this summer to fulfill this wish.
There will be a celebration of life in Utah on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Magnolia Grove Reception Center, 1117 W. South Jordan Pkwy, in South Jordan, Utah.
