Glen Palmer
Salina, Utah
Glen Arlo Palmer, our friend passed away February 4, 2025 at his home in Salina. He was born on August 18, 1948 in Olds, Alberta Canada, and was adopted as a newborn baby by Arlo Verlin Palmer and Zina Pearl Heninger. He was a brother to Doug (Kathy) Palmer, Donna Jeanne (Donal) McLean, Norma (Harvey) Blankenagel, Arlene (Terry) Smith.
Glen was a friend to all that knew him, willing to help anyone and always available for advice. Glen has many friends, and we will miss him. His smile was always warm.
Glen was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. Glen went to Vietnam as a helicopter repairman. While there he was asked by a General to volunteer for a reconnaissance mission. While in the air a bullet passed through his leg and killed the other volunteer soldier beside him, thus awarding him his Purple Heart award. This left Glen with a permanent disability that affected him the rest of his life ultimately ending with his lower leg being removed. This did not stop Glen or slow him down as his friends will attest, as he was an avid hunter and fisherman loving his beloved mountains that surrounded him. He had wonderful friends that helped him bag most of the big animals of Utah including one of the first Bison hunts on the Henry’s. He also hunted bear, antelope, bighorn sheep, elk and deer of which are now mounted on the walls of his home.
Glen had some wonderful friends in Salina who always looked out for him. His family also loved him and remember the times he came to the ranch to visit.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings. He is survived by his older brother Doug and most of his nieces and nephews.
Cremation Services will be held at the Magleby Mortuary and Cremation Center and burial of cremated remains will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Salina Eastside Cemetery with military honors.
