Doris Christensen
Aurora, Utah

Doris Spencer Christensen, 95, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on May 27, 2021. She was born in Salina, Utah on April 3, 1926 to Earl Eugene and Clara Margaret Nelson Spencer. She married Jay Leo Christensen on February 10, 1945 and they were sealed in the Manti Temple, because of conditions with World War II,  on May 25, 1946. Together they celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary this last February.
This sweet lady always had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and loved to share it with everyone who crossed her path. She and her husband, Jay, served five missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she served in various Church callings and civic organizations, always making many friends along the way.
She grew up in Redmond and graduated from North Sevier High School with the class of 1944. She was a devoted wife, companion, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Doris became the very first woman school bus driver in Redmond and was a teacher’s assistant in the Sevier School District for 17 years. She loved and helped many children. She especially enjoyed helping them learn how to read.
In 1991, Jay and Doris moved to St. George to serve a full-time mission. They loved St. George so much that after their mission, they sold their home and farm in Redmond and moved south until 2012, when they moved to Aurora to be closer to family. They enjoyed so many treasured friends and times in St. George where they lived for 21 years.
She is survived by her husband, Jay. Her posterity includes five children: Louise (Allen) Jensen, Redmond; Dale (Colleen) Christensen, Pleasant Grove; Keith (Clareen) Christensen, Modesto, CA; Carol Lee (Scott) Johnson, Aurora; Kathy (Mark) Kimball, Colorado Springs, CO. They have 28 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Doris will be honored by her family in a funeral service on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Aurora 2nd  LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery.
