Donna Stanton
1944 – 2021
Salina, Utah – Donna Rae Stanton, 76 passed away April 22, 2021 in Gunnison, Utah.
She was born September 2, 1944 in Delhi, New York to Hiley “Jake” and Jessie Seward. She graduated high school from Delaware Academy, Class of 1962. She fell in love and married her sweetheart Robert Paul Stanton Sr. on July 31, 1962 in Equinuck Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death Mach 3, 2009.
Donna loved to bake and was an excellent cook. She was a kind and caring person, loving mother, sister and friend. She truly cared about the people around her always making herself available if someone needed a friend. She put the needs of others above her own needs. Donna was an aide for the Head Start Program in Gunnison, Utah. One of her duties was riding the bus that transported the children to and from the school. On the morning of October 28, 2008, the bus was involved in an accident. Donna was seriously injured as a result. When help arrived Donna insisted that they take care of the children first before attending to her. To know her was to love her.
Donna is survived by a son, William “Bill” Stanton, of Delhi, New York, a daughter Kristina Gibb of Salina, Utah, a sister Jean Anne Stein of Delhi, New York, a nephew Michael Stein, and Neice Deana Meres both of Delhi, New York, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two devoted friends Julee Shepherd and Paula Cooke Ivie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, by a daughter Serena Marie Stanton, a son Robert Paul Stanton Jr, a daughter-in-law ShayLynn Roberts, a sister Dorothy Beang, a brother Robert Seward, and a brother-in-law Mike Stein.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. at the Maple Grove Campground – Fishlake National Forest. The family invites all who loved her to come and share a favorite memory of Donna.
