David J. “Fast Dave” Torgenson

March 18, 1953 – October 26, 2024

Salina, Utah – David J. Torgenson, fondly known as “Fast Dave,” passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at the age of 71 in Provo, Utah. In his final days, he was lovingly surrounded by his devoted wife and love of his life; his children and their spouses.

He was born March 18, 1953, in Salina to Blaine J.  and Lila Rae Ivie Torgenson.  David graduated from North Sevier High School in 1971 and later attended community college in Salt Lake City. Growing up in Salina, he shared a deep bond with Denene, his future wife. They were married on February 9, 1974, and together they raised three children: Blaine, Amy, and Amber. Family was David’s pride and joy.

Dave drove truck for 43 years and after retiring in 2013, he dedicated his time to cheering on his grandchildren in their sports and pursuits, always supporting their dreams. “Papa” was deeply loved and took immense pride in his grandchildren.  David will be remembered for his love of family, warmth, and amazing personality.

The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at Utah Valley Hospital for their loving care.

He is survived by his loving wife, Denene, of Salina; children Blaine (Saige) Torgenson of Salina; Amy (Cody) Boyce of St. George;  Amber (Bobby) Buege of Spring Creek, Nevada; cherished grandchildren, Ryker, Keagan, Kellon, Kambry, Tyler, Jake, Isaac, Miles, Kyx and Zayn; and great-grandchildren Daxton, Xavier and Keanu; his sisters: Barbara Hansen of Houston, Texas; Lois and Boyd Schow of Hurricane. 

David is preceded in death by his parents, Blaine and Lila Torgenson, in-laws Dent and Valeen Sorensen, and his brother-in-law, Redge Hansen.

Services to honor David’s life will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. prior to the services.
