Beverly Swallow Flora

1930 – 2021

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Beverly Flora, 90, of Salina, Utah, passed away on June 14, 2021, in Rexburg, Idaho surrounded by her family.

Beverly was born June 19, 1930, in Meadow, Utah, the daughter of Donald Dearden Swallow and Sarah May Lister. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City. On May 27, 1949, she married her sweetheart, Don Flora, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served faithfully in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She and Don served a 2-year mission in Peoria, Illinois. After their mission, they enjoyed serving together for many years in the Manti Temple. She always took time to listen to others, and she and dad had a remarkable gift for helping everyone feel as though they were the most important person in the world. Unconditional love toward others, a tender and grateful heart, and a deep appreciation and reverence for all of God’s creations exemplified her life.

Beverly and Don found joy in creating beautiful flower and rock gardens, and she was happy spending time with her grandkids, singing, bird watching, sewing, crocheting, and collecting rocks.

She is survived by her children, Janice M. and Richard Carter of Orem, Utah, Lance B. and Trudy Flora of Pleasant View, Utah, Kim David and Kimberly Flora of Tulare, California, Lezlie Ann and Rick McClure of Medford, Oregon, Jason Dearden and Tisha Flora of Rexburg, Idaho. Her legacy includes 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, son Donald Layne, her parents, and her brother, Dale Swallow, and his wife Dorothy.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the nurses and staff at Solace Hospice who cared for our mother with love and tenderness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive in Millcreek, Utah, where friends may call for viewing one hour prior to the services.
